The founder of Grace Recovery House struggled with drugs and alcohol throughout her life. She finally got clean after finding out she was pregnant at age 30. She remained clean for 9 years and during that time started her own information technology company. She became very successful and won awards such as “top 50 woman led business in Florida” and “top 40 under 40.” She acquired many other companies and the world was hers. Soon after her mother became very ill and passed away. She was filled with grief and eventually began to use again. Four months later a dear friend and coworker died of a drug overdose. Six months later her grand niece died and six months after that her father died. Needless to say she was broken and lost.

Completely distraught and defeated from her family losses and her friend dying of a drug overdose she ended up selling her companies and opening these halfway houses. She wanted help others start a new way of life to spite the struggle she herself was having at the time. One day her sponsor suggested she try to find God again. Our founders response was “I have looked i cant find God.” Her sponsor knew this wasn’t true. Her sponsor could see how much pain she was in and how hopeless she felt. She knew only God could heal her from the grief and pain she had inside. Her sponsor said then why not pray “God I cant find you please find me.” So our founder prayed that small prayer and God did find her. God left the 99 and came found her and has found her everyday since. As a result she turned Grace Recovery is now a faith based non-profit and promotes God in the lives of all our residents. We believe without a true connection with God one cannot stay clean. She is now clean and shares this message with other sick and suffering addicts everywhere.

Grace Recovery House is a faith based non-profit recovery residence and sober living home for men and woman in Sarasota, Florida seeking freedom from drugs and alcohol. At Grace Recovery House we believe recovery is impossible without God. At Grace Recovery House we use 12 step programs to direct men and woman to a better way of life showing them where God is within every step. Recovery is so much more than abstinence from drugs and alcohol its a way of life. At Grace Recovery House we feel teaching life skills is of utter importance as well. Things such as budgeting, self-care, mental health, addressing legal issues, service work, and step work become part of each individuals daily routine. At Grace Recovery House we try to give individuals every tool to succeed.
